Deity Dead
Hate me. as you do unto yourself
Love me. I can do what your god has done
for you, stability and inspiration
degradation, apocalypse,
a catalepsy of society
there is no love for fear of hatred
Condemn me. just as probably i would condemn you
to horrors of the mind, so feral and mad
to pleasures in the flesh, so mechanical, so sad
take your pity if you can, taking time beyond the sands
Idolatry in its truest form
a temple layered in fat, under skin
of flesh to worship so warm
mass dedication to an orgy of regret
pain it takes away some truth
if only to bring it back to the clearest view
the suffering, this life, the pain I choose
Warm me up within your soul
Take me into safety, there to find a way
To some lost peace, self-sacrifice
but my eyes aren’t the ones crucified
seeing all from afar, to be deified
we are scarred from the elliptical lies
from our sacrifice we are deified
~chorus
a murky sampling of earth as law
but we know we are more free
than that when we are emptied
into a world so raw, we come
to delude ourselves, into hell
where it all seems to be so well
… the land of pain and suffering.
